Here we are, almost a year and fifty-four episodes of KK&F later. We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us on this year’s journey, gaining insight from on-the-ground reporters about 2021’s biggest developments for the labor movement, tracking the Biden admin’s first year in office, and getting the wisdom of some of the Left’s greatest leaders and thinkers. We’ve learned a lot, and we hope you’ve enjoyed learning with us.
A new year is on its way, with untold new challenges and opportunities for leftists willing to take them on. Steven Donziger’s return home from prison and ongoing struggle for freedom holds a meaningful lesson about the power of grassroots movement-building to raise critical awareness and change public perception. Watching conservative Democrats crush the budget bill — and all its essential provisions for struggling American families — reminds us that we’re still looking for alternatives to the corrupt two-party system that rules our politics. While the threat of “cancel culture” leaves elite conservatives unscathed and the left divided, we’ve seen new data about the real issues working-class voters connect to during elections, and we’ve got new questions about how the left can field candidates fit to win.
We’re closing out the year by bringing Chris Hedges on the show. A prolific author, journalist, and host of On Contact for RT, Hedges has been an outstanding voice of opposition to U.S. imperialism and capitalist greed, from his days covering the Iraq War to his support for Occupy Wall Street and beyond. In his 2018 book America: The Farewell Tour, Hedges unsparingly describes the decline of democracy that decades of corrupt governments and powerful corporations have caused. It’s not a pretty picture, but it’s also not carved in stone, and this week, as we welcome in a new year, we’ll be talking to Chris about the chances that the Left has to turn the tides.
I've been hoping to see Chris on this show for months. I can't wait to see this.
Couldn't have booked a better guest. Hope to see him on BP soon too. Happy New Year, Krystal, Kyle and all the hardworking staff at Krystal Kyle & Friends!
