The latest news from the losing Democratic ticket is that Kamala is “keeping her options open,” considering running for the presidency again in 2028. Meanwhile, to her left, Bernie Sanders has denounced the approach her campaign took in no uncertain terms, pointing out that the Democratic Party as it currently exists does not represent the working class and is not interested in responding to its needs. Bernie’s point is that the Republicans don’t, either, but they’re better at making cynical appeals — to xenophobia, fear, and hatred as methods of explaining economic privation. What Bernie sees the need for is a party of, by, and for the working class, capable of building a government that doesn’t just work for a wealthy few. Can the Democratic Party ever rise to the occasion? Does it even want to?
On this holiday week, we’ve got an exclusive interview with former Bernie campaign co-chair and current Representative Ro Khanna to talk about the party’s future, whatever that might look like. Will Democrats fully continue to capitulate to the interests of wealthy donors, losing popular votes in the process? Or is there a chance that the massively popular Bernie-style vision of social democracy can exist within the Democratic Party? We hash it out on this episode of KK&F. Full video will be released Thursday via Substack for everyone as a holiday surprise from all of us on the podcast. You can listen to this episode when it’s released this Saturday on Spotify, Pandora, Apple Podcasts, and more.
Is Bernie going to start talking to left wing independent media again? That would be nice
I am hoping AOC runs for pres in 2028 on the dem ticket. She already shows up in the polling. Bernie's age is too much of a liability now sadly. AOC is the bright future we need, and she'll draw in some parts of the democratic base that bernie couldn't. I felt miserable after the election but seeing the likes of AOC bernie warren and co on social media reminded me we still have fighters left, the fight for justice is never over... we will keep fighting.
