I’m having a hard time listening to Doug. He doesn’t seem to mind trashing ideas he hasn’t fully explored. It really just points out how many other excellent interviews the two of you have made happen. This is such an amazing show but you can’t bat a thousand. Keep up the good work.

This conversation on crypto is very one sided. It could’ve been much better if you had an actual expert on the show. He seemed to not really understand crypto at all.

What does this guy think fiat currency is other than fake numbers on a computer? He knows as much about crypto as my suburban dad. I can’t believe you had this guy on as an “expert”

I for one want to thank y'all for having Doug on the show. His weekly radio show, Behind the News, which covers economic and political news usually with two guests, is fantastic and has greatly expanded my consciousness and thinking for decades. In fact, one of his recent guests, Molly White, is a software engineer who runs an amazing blog called "Web3 is going just great...and is definitely not an enormous grift that's pouring lighter fluid on our already-smoldering planet" (https://web3isgoinggreat.com/) that tracks a lot of examples exposing the grift of crypto.

I’m in agreement with most the comments I’ve seen so far. This guy was a terrible “expert”. I’m not “crypto-bro”. I own no crypto. I have an interest in it but understand some of the issues with it. My interest is in it’s potential. This guy is clearly willfully ignorant or flat out stupid. In like the first five minutes he demonstrated that with giving obvious bad answers or claiming not to know things that are basics.

He claimed not to know what problem crypto was out to fix. Centralization among other privacy/security issues dependent upon the type of crypto. Kyle kind of nudged him and he still missed it.

He made super bad arguments about usage that dismisses the fact that crypto is a new style currency and regardless of it’s future it is still establishing itself. His arguments were on the level of “no one is really using wind and solar energies, so we should just keep using fossil fuels”.

He also seemed to dismiss crypto as “not attached to anything” but doesn’t seem to realize that traditional currency is not backed by anything either in a very similar way.

I think as we move to a digital world it makes more sense to have a true digital currency. Maybe crypto is it, maybe something else is. There are a lot of legitimate issues with crypto currently from power usage, lack of regulation, fly-by-night crypto scam creation, to a culture that treats it more like a stock commodity rather than a true currency. I made it about halfway through the interview before I had to quit due to him clearly intentionally being misleading or outright stupid on the subject matter.

what happened to Ryan Cooper--it seemed he was your intended interviewee for this week?

Musk very much sounding Trumpian in "predicting" that "they" will attack him.
