We invited Omar Baddar, an analyst of the Israel-Palestine conflict and a prominent voice critiquing Israel’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, on the show for Episode 148, just before the end of last year. Now we’re having him back to provide urgent, necessary updates on how the genocide has progressed, how American politicians have changed their stance on US support of Israel (if they have at all), longer-term critiques of Biden’s comments from State of the Union and his overall approach to Israel-Palestine, and more. We hope you’ll join us for this essential deep dive with a respected voice on this crucial issue.
The last time Omar came on the show, he pointed out how some progressives have risen to the challenge of opposing Zionist war hawk colleagues in Congress — and how others have fallen short. Especially after Democratic primary elections that showed strong support for non-commitment to the party in the face of Biden’s bankrolling a genocide, it seems more important than ever to check in on how those who publicly identify with the progressive movement have actually allied themselves with the interests of the international working class.
You can listen to this episode when it’s released Friday for paying subscribers via Substack and Saturday for everyone via Spotify, Pandora, Apple Podcasts, and more.
I live in Michigan.
Anecdotally, everyone I know who indicated to me that they were going to vote uncommitted or told me they did: Is still committed to voting for Biden. I think it was a great way to have their voices be heard. However, I know they would all still vote for Biden when November comes.
These are the types of people who are invested in politics and aligned to the left. No-one like that will do anything that would risk Trump being elected again. ... Trump, who moved our Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. No, no pro-Palistinian voter will vote against or abstain from voting against Trump.
I hope Biden takes note of the public opinion, but if I was him, I wouldn't worry about those "uncommitted" votes.
You know Biden deserves a lot of gas lighting Crystal, and Saagar is perfectly fine letting you do it. Over the last few weeks the show has become a “slag the dems hour”. Please keep in mind that they are the SECOND worst option lest we forfeit, the brutish, rapist alternative.
