This week we have the pleasure of sitting down with renowned activist and writer Naomi Klein to discuss her new book. She recently went on the Intercept’s podcast Deconstructed with Ryan Grim to share some info about Doppelganger: A Trip Into the Mirror World, which finds her analyzing the strange world of conspiracy theories — using as a point of entry Naomi Wolf, former feminist and current right-wing conspiracy theorist with whom Klein’s name is often confused. Klein has written powerfully about what she calls “conspiracy culture,” a phenomenon beyond principled theory and more akin to “throwing a lot of stuff at the wall, seeing what sticks,” as she puts it on Deconstructed.
Well, what sticks? In the past years, the American political landscape has been shaped by the staying power of right-wing conspiracy theories surrounding vaccination, election outcomes, gender identity, and much more. Now, with Naomi joining us for the latest episode of KK&F, we’re looking forward to getting a better understanding of how conspiracy culture has evolved in the US in recent years, what it thrives on, and why we should care. Paying subscribers can tune in Friday for the video of our conversation, released on Substack. Everyone else, join us Saturday on major streaming platforms like Spotify, Pandora, Apple Podcasts, and more.
