Former presidential candidate and businessman Andrew Yang rejoins the show for Episode 141 to discuss his new book. With The Last Election, Yang adds novelist to his list of achievements; this political thriller captures the broken American political system on a precipice, nearing collapse as it faces a final election. While the plot of Yang and his co-writer Marche’s book is fictional, it gives us a vivid, shocking image of where our flawed democracy might be headed — and also offers us the opportunity to speak with Yang as a political commentator, looking for his sense of whether the events of The Last Election are slated for our own political future.

US democracy has been in collapse since Ford pardoned Tricky Dick. Then there was Ronnie Rat Raygun who stole the election with a dirty trick. Later there was Dubya, whose brother was governor of the deciding State, and assisted in the crime of Dubya holding office. This was so that they could set up a situation where they could wage a war on a country that did not attack the US, and take away The People’s rights, while calling it “The Patriot Act.”
They even tried a coup during the term of FDR, which was thwarted.
