Today, Ken Klippenstein shared the manifesto written by Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of the UnitedHealthcare CEO. In his preface, he points out that while mainstream media networks have the manifesto, they’ve chosen merely to quote from it rather than to print it in full. You can read the manifesto here — as expected, it is a critique of the for-profit American healthcare system that literally shortens our life expectancy.
The response to the CEO’s killing reminds us of the pain and the desperation to which people are driven by this incredibly exploitative system. According to reports, Mangione suffered from debilitating back pain that hampered regular activities. And as people have pointed out online, this is all amidst a political landscape in which healthcare was treated as a nonissue during the most recent presidential election discourse.
We’ll be talking about this massive event and what we’ve learned about the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s killer, alongside other major topics from this week’s news.
