Dr. Trita Parsi, co-founder of the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, is this week’s special guest as we look into the history of the conflict between Israel and Palestine. Israel has declared war on Hamas following its Saturday attack, in which hundreds of Israelis were killed; now, Israel is hitting Gaza with relentless air strikes that have killed hundreds more. The Israeli defense minister gave this statement on Israel’s approach to the conflict:
I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed. We are fighting human animals and we act accordingly.
In addition to covering the latest news on this war, we’ll dig into its history with our guest, taking a broader view of Mideast politics and including an analysis of Iran’s political role. We’re going to discuss the Abraham Accords, the attempted deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia, and much more; we hope you’ll join us for the conversation. Paying subscribers will get the full video of this episode when it’s released Friday on Substack. Everyone else can tune in Saturday when it’s released on Spotify, Pandora, Apple Podcasts, and more.
