In his work as attorney for the families of children killed at Sandy Hook, Mark Bankston has taken on defamation cases against Alex Jones, whose sharing of false information denying the Sandy Hook shooting eventually resulted in his having to pay $965 million to the plaintiffs. The high-profile cases against Jones lasted years; they exposed both the power of conservative media to spread dangerous lies and the tireless fight of both the families and their attorneys to combat those lies and reveal the harassment and harm that resulted from them.

Now, we’re turning to Mark to tell us about major defamation cases in the news lately, from the lawsuits against Fox News to the comments unfolding between conservative commentators Candace Owens and Stephen Crowder. We’re releasing this conversation early this week — on Thursday, paying subscribers can access the full video content of our conversation, while everyone else will be able to listen to the audio when it’s released in the evening. Why just the conservative media ? Why not, for example, examine the damage done by Russiagate including (but not only) the lives that lie has taken? It sad to see the 2 of you fall into the partisan lines.
