"All of us had imagined we’d be in a situation like this"
Sneak Peak Episode 13 with Andrew Yang
This Friday, we’ll be joined by Andrew Yang for Episode 13 of Krystal Kyle & Friends. Andrew is leading the polls in his race for New York City Mayor, an office where he would be confronted daily with the spikes in violence, hate crimes, and despair that have been left in the wake of the pandemic and the Trump era. He’s also got something exclusive he’s planning to share with us first! If you aren’t a paying subscriber, this is the week to do it so you can see what Andrew is bringing to the KK&F table!
It’s been a week of profound sadness. Six Asian-American women were murdered last week in Atlanta by shooter Robert Aaron Long, who killed eight people in total. Long has denied that his actions were motivated by racist hatred, and some officials took him at his word, ignoring any possible connection between racism and misogyny experienced by Asian-American women. And of course next to nothing was said about the extremist Christian background that may have contributed to the shooter’s sick views of women, pleasure and sex. We all know if the murderer had been Muslim then news coverage would have felt comfortable delving deep into the religious propaganda that fed the mind of a killer.
Then, on Monday, ten people were killed in a shooting at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado. One person present at the scene said later, “It seemed like all of us had imagined we’d be in a situation like this at some point in our lives.” Those horrific murders have reinvigorated the debate on ending the filibuster as Joe Biden has cited “a need to act” on gun reform in the wake of those shootings. What will come of this? Will the Biden administration refuse to wield its full power in order to accomplish a goal, as we saw in the failure to pass a $15 hourly minimum wage?
Stay safe this week and we’ll see you Friday.

I really hope you pressed Yang on some of his anti-left positions on education, like his recent attacks on the NYC teachers union, his support for the charterization (aka corporatization) of NYC public schools, and his non-factual comments about teacher tenure and job security. If this is just another softball interview I’m not sure that I’ll continue to subscribe.
