Marxist scholar Adolph Reed Jr is this week’s guest on Krystal Kyle & Friends. He’s professor emeritus of political science at the University of Pennsylvania, where he specializes in American politics and political development. As a writer, his recent work has covered essential topics like “Why Black Lives Matter Can’t be Co-opted” and “What Materialist Black Political History Actually Looks Like.”
Reed has been the subject of controversy for his criticism of leftist organizing that centers issues of racism without consideration of classism. His writing and political thought asks the American left to think about the links between racism and capitalist exploitation, as well as the strategies and messaging we should use to build multiracial movements for justice. We look forward to covering these issues with him in this week’s episode of KK&F, and we hope you’ll join us.
Subscribers can access the video of this week’s conversation on Friday night through Substack. Everyone else can listen to the podcast audio through Substack, Spotify, Pandora, Apple Podcasts, and anywhere else you get your podcasts.
Adolph Reed Jr. is the GOAT.
Krystal and Kyle, will you please do monthly AMA livestreams together for paying subscribers?
I think you should put ads on these videos on the secular talk channel. Put up a poll to see what the community thinks?
Kratom has opioid like properties. Opioids may decrease testosterone over time. I put kratom in a similar category as Suboxone in terms of risk level. I just can't spit out numbers for kratom like I can for other substances. Also the individuals that use the substance rarely present to the office or in the inpatient side. You can interpreted that a lot of different ways. Because it's safe? Because it's effects take a long time, etc? I will say for both Kratom and Suboxone they are insidious in their weaning and can be difficult. PAWS for example. Any substance including cannabis is terrible for sleep which then leads to irritable mood as well. https://americanaddictioncenters.org/withdrawal-timelines-treatments/post-acute-withdrawal-syndrome
I think it is in the communities interest that the beef be settled. I've completely lost the plot now and probably a lot of the community has. You would be leading by example that even though you all are clearly not happy with each other, you are still willing to do things like online town halls or w/e creative things you all could do collaborations on.
It's Christmas.
