Listen now | I’ve come to believe that this is the defining characteristic of my generation: keeping our options open. Pete Davis begins his 2021 book Dedication: The Case for Commitment by describing the modern refusal to commit with a low-stakes example. “Infinite browsing mode” is perfectly captured by an evening spent trawling the full Netflix database, rejecting each movie option in case a better one comes along. But in his appearance on this week’s episode of Krystal Kyle & Friends, Pete makes it clear that the stakes of indecisiveness are far greater than permanently scrolling through media sites. Our conversation inspired us to reflect on the value of commitment to ideals, principles, political movements. How well are we serving ourselves and our world by refusing to stand by what we believe in? And when there’s room for us to commit ourselves to these projects, how can we make the leap?
Kiss my ass with hating on Gen X. We got shafted along with the newer generations. I'm on the tail end of Gen X and things haven't been good for us. How about some unity, since we are all in this together.
Krystal, it might be fun shitting on Gen X because we're just so powerful, but since you're older than CIA Pete (born 1982) you're going to have to admit that either you're Gen X or he's a Millennial. (or both! why shouldn't we draw the line at 1982?) Back here in the real world, we've had to deal with Boomer crap a lot more than later generations ever will.
Another reason we scroll endlessly imo is the mediocrity of our choices. We are looking for something we can connect to, just maybe in the wrong places
Heck, we're still in Europe 76 years after WWII and 30 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union!!!! The MIC needs dismantled in multi-front trust-busting moves!!!

In terms of Gex X, Millennials or Gen Z this is strictly American point of view.
1. Today Millennials and Gen Z in China are the largest consumer base for all major retailers. It’s how Alibaba is born
2. The level of information these two generations possess today is unparalleled. To your point, up until this year, there were barely independent media available to large masses, so the message and information were rigorously controlled for decades
3. Never before in the history of humankind we’ve had large corporations so vastly wealthy, such as Tech today, which btw happened over the past two decades, they have so much power they simply become fourth branch of government in US
4. Major changes happen every 40 years because new generations enter labor market, including politics.
Just image for the moment what Boomers inherited from previous generations. Total debacle. They were the same age as GenZ today, when WWII started. So I am happy what is happening today. It’s a start.
btw if you can't choose because there are so many, just take our time and try one by one. choice isn't a bad thing. also: all the stuff being sold on amazon (the platform not amazon itself) is produced by people that rely on others to buy them, so someone had the passion to produce and sell it on amazon and there are or might be people looking for especially this product. so again, choice and the passion for a product isn't the issue. the issue is forcing people to have a passion they don't have...

People who are born in 1982 belong to no generation. We are timeless, both analog and digital, both online and old school.

You can always count on some Berry Weiss hate at the end of these lol. Nice Hill sticker, btw.

This was a good episode. It really inspired me. I loved it.
