Listen now | We know we can’t flip a switch and institute socialism. But how long that process will take and what its end result will be is a debate that often polarizes the American left. Matt and others have spoken and written in favor of adopting something like the Nordic model, which centers on a strong welfare state. He also sees value in the example of Alaska’s social wealth fund and in worker co-ops, supporting ownership of your own workplace. This is to say that in Matt’s view, we can find elements of the socialist society we want to build in the world as it exists today. It’s “nothing crazy” — these policies and programs have huge support and remain important institutions for the public good in the communities where they have been established.
You guys obviously aren’t taking Rogan’s advice seeing how you keep deleting my comments lol
What was it this time? Asking you guys to support anti-war demonstration that include arch nemesis Jimmy Dore? Or for pointing out that you keep deleting my comments? Or about the relevance of developing a third party? I know you guys have big plans of cashing in on media careers for yourselves but you’re headed the same way as CNN if you continue down the path of audience capture, partisan bias and blue check politics. :-)
Substack audio features the same error I have on my audio-only uploads, but the Spotify version sounds louder and not like a zoom call! weird, but glad a louder version is available!
The law of contradiction in things, that is, the law of the unity of opposites is the basic law of materialist dialectics. Lenin said, "Dialectics in the proper sense is the study of contradiction in the very essence of objects." Lenin said, Lenin often called this law the essence of dialectics; he also called it the kernel of dialectics. In studying this law, therefore, we cannot but touch upon a variety of questions, upon a number of philosophical problems. - Mao Zedong On Contradiction
Regarding smoking, I understand the importance of individual freedoms. However, unless we account for the negative externalities imposed on the public by second and third hand smoke, I’m 100% for a full cigarette ban. I can only think of 1 scenario that would change my stance and that’s if specific structures were to be built for smokers that would purify the air or trap the smoke in the building. What we currently have is a scaled version of unregulated industries where people can generate hazardous waste and send it downwind to destroy other people’s livelihoods without paying any price.
