Listen now | How can a new generation of leftists learn from Chomsky’s practice as well as his theory? Our own conversation with Professor Chomsky on this week’s episode of Krystal Kyle & Friends reveals how important this question is to him. Chomsky hopes that his lifetime of work will provide insight into current political struggles — against corporate looting of workers’ wages, against the repression of organized labor, and against imperialism. After speaking with him about these struggles and about how the left can respond to them, it’s clear that the lessons Chomsky offers us are truly indispensable.
After watching the full episode, I think it's really concerning that everything you guys say always leads to the natural conclusion of "it's the democrats' fault". You completely gloss over the fact that Chomsky also talked about a failure of the left and the activist movement to organize, which presumably you and Krystal are part of? And yet Kyle, all you do in your videos is cynically bitch about the democrats. You never teach your audience about organizing. You never explain to them what "putting pressure" is even supposed to mean besides complaining on Twitter. You keep them angry and pessimistic...but completely fail to empower them in any way to do anything about it.
And that's not even getting into the fact that you consistently get stories wrong and spread misinformation. Even here, you and Krystal smugly dismiss the American Rescue Plan as "$1400 breadcrumbs", completely failing to explain that the bill is actually full of other far more important and substantial provisions and that we should be putting maximum pressure to get it passed.
Also, please stop talking about Gamestop. Almost everything you've said about that is either misinformation or fake news. All of the populism in it is fake. The hedge funds and the WallStreetBets leaders made a ton of money at the expense of regular people and they were always going to. It was a disgusting cult-like pump and dump that you irresponsibly supported.
Please have a bit of introspection. You're not helping the movement.
Kyle blames to democrats because they talk a good game but don’t actually do anything. Firstly, to say Kyle doesn’t show the public how to organize or put pressure to advance the movement is pure ignorance. Have you not heard of #ForcetheVote. A strategy that you and your establishment democrats completely ignored.
Secondly, GameStop was basically the little guy playing the Wall Street elite at their own game, so the corporate media freaked out. Did some other hedge funds jump on the bandwagon after everyone realized what was happening...maybe. However the reason all this talk about regulation and bump and dump by far right wing groups came about on the corporate media was because the little guy got a seat at the table.
Stop accusing others of spreading misinformation or stopping the movement...the democrats have no movement!!!!
That's why I said "besides complaining on Twitter". Because his plan for FTV was complaining to AOC on Twitter until she followed that strategy. He is also giving the impression that people like Joe Manchin will be responsive to these Twitter mob tactics.
I would gain so much respect for Kyle if he just did a video explaining to people 1. why the only 3 congresspeople that you as an individual have a real way to effectively pressure are your own House rep. and your two senators, and 2. the proper avenues to pressure them so that you can actually influence them (see https://indivisible.org/resource/local-advocacy-tactics-work ).
It would go such a long way if he could direct all of the anger that he engineers in his audience to real advocacy tactics and organizing. I want the left to be relevant.
As for Gamestop, it's honestly depressing to see what getting your news from Kyle Kulinski does to people. "Some hedge funds" didn't jump on the bandwagon after it was happening. They *made it happen*. The amount of capital that "the little guy" has available to manipulate the price of the stock is negligible. It was driven up by multi-trillion dollar sharks like Blackrock jumping in early and betting against the short sellers. Wall Street got most of the profits. This was Goliath vs Goliath with David getting beaten to a bloody pulp as a sideshow. In time you'll realize the extent to which most retail investors (other than the most savvy WSB veterans, many of whom are seasoned professional investors, and a lucky few others) got duped and crushed by this Ponzi scheme.
I'm not referring to the Democrats as a movement, they're just a political party, a vehicle of power. I'm talking about the progressive movement that Kyle is actively hurting.
I wouldn't say I agree with you when you say that all Kyle and Krystal are doing is "bitching and complaining." From my understanding they have been the biggest advocates of pressuring the democrats in different ways. They both want the democratic party to be more left wing (or centrist when it comes to most of the rest of the western world). They do want democrats to withhold votes, fight, strike etc. And I don't get your point that they shouldn't criticize the the rescue plan. Of course they should! Because it is insufficient and an insult to all essential workers and ordinary people.
I know that they want politicians to do a lot of stuff. But they don't identify the points of pressure or describe the proper avenues to exert that pressure at all outside of organizing Twitter mobs. Kyle has been covering politics for more than 12 years and 98% of his audience still has no idea how to organize or really, how Congress even works. Just a few days ago Kyle was spreading the myth that Democrats could've started budget reconciliation on Day 1 and were betraying their voters by not doing so (when that was literally impossible without negotiating and passing the power sharing agreement first). You can't act this high and mighty when you're contributing nothing beyond anger, critique, and a ton of misinformation.
Criticizing the rescue plan is fine. What's wrong is criticizing it in a dishonest way, by pretending it's garbage and not even telling your audience what's actually in it. If Kyle was my main source of news (which he is for many), my takeaway would be that the Democrats' plan is literally just $1400 checks and that they're already horrible because they could've passed it on Day 1. If that's true, then it's easy to make the jump to asking what's the difference with Trump? Didn't he give us $1800? Contributing to this abject ignorance about policy substance is harmful. People can never be empowered if they're not equipped with basic facts.
How are people supposed to believe we're anything but delusional if half of our criticisms of moderate democrats are based on lies and misinformation? It just completely discredits the half of them that are legitimate.
Yeah, well I trust what Kyle is saying a lot more than the corporate media you’re controlled by. You say that Kyle should be teaching people how to organize and use pressure tactics...isn’t that what peoples party, our revolution, move to amend and other groups are for. Regardless as I stated previously there was a pressure campaign call #ForcetheVote which even held a town hall advising people to make contact with AOC and the squad. Also he is the founder of Justice Democrats. Your the one who is on here to spread misinformation...stop it!
What this person is saying about $GME is simply what any sensible, educated person would say on the subject. It has nothing to do with "corporate media," Kyle was wrong.
Read some history. What “movement”? This IS the movement which requires understanding that the right is insane, but the left joined it in the last decades. Duh…
Truly amazing how brilliant a mind Professor Chomsky still has at his age. His ability to recall every bill, every player and every moment in history is astounding. If I can have a quarter of the brain capacity that he has at 92, I will be so very happy. Loved the interview and congrats to you both on your new show.Keep going !
I wish we could get a transcript of this interview, my mom is a huge fan of Noam Chomsky but she's hard of hearing. I'm struggling with the audio with normal hearing, I think she'd have a hard time understanding him. So much important information from him, thank you for having him on.
I feel more intelligent from just listening to Noam Chomsky. Alongside the late great Carl Sagan, one of the people I could just listen to for hours without even noticing any time passing by at all. Thank you guys for bringing us this interview.
I emailed him to ask if he read "Sapiens" by Harari and he replied indicating that he hasn't but was interested. I think he'd take issue with some of the things Harari said in it.

It wasn't 65K votes -- it was 42K, so what? 1/3 as many as Hillary lost by and that's all we heard about when she lost?
42K votes -- 10K in AZ, 12K in GA, 20 in WI and it's 269-269, Trump wins based upon more Republican state legislatures.
And in all 3 of those states (and many more) Biden was saved by right wing alternatives on the Presidential ballots sucking votes away from Trump with NO liberal alternative to take votes from Biden.
Where did you get 65K votes?
It's 42K - and with the caveat if there were no libertarian an other right parties on the ballots Trump would have won.
AND if there was a liberal alternative on the ballots -- Trump would have won.
(this was the case in several other states as well)

Fantastic interview! This was right up there with Jimmy Dore and Mike McCrae’s Stoned Chomsky. There is a case to be made that Noam is alligned with the CIA. His evocation of fear via nuclear Holocaust and climate catastrophe is evidence. Still, there was good chemistry between Krystal, Kyle and Noam.
Noam has been bashing the CIA for all its existence: in XXth century Guatemala and Vietnam, as well as Iraq, Syria and the Iranian coup d’état by the Shah and supported by the US. Besides, the CIA doesn’t give a sh*t about climate catastrophe or terminal nuclear destruction; if they did, the first thing they would do is stop the complicity of Washington.

Funny that you posted this after hearing Kyle explain that he doesn't read his messages and comments.
What you want it action. Have you joined DSA yet? They are organized and can give you marching orders if you're not one to do your own organizing.

Well, I’m not sure you would be so very happy; as Chomsky points out, the more you learn about the word, the more you realize how little you know.
One can never get enough of Chomsky. Love your show guys. It's profesional, comprehensive, and educational.

Does anyone transcribe these? Or is there a computer program or website which can do it easily?

Noam is phenomenal. The dems need to make Puerto Rico a state.
Are you ever gonna have Peter Joseph on the show?

I assume you’re joking.
Occam’s razor means you take the simplest explanation for his advocacy, not the most needlessly convoluted and insane.
