I have to toss this out re: homeschooling. I homeschooled both my sons at different times. One was home for 6 months for a medical reasons and one was home a whole year as he had dyslexia and was not functioning at public school. I concider myself progressive and even so back then (1990s). I was grateful for the ability for the time out with them. Most of the other homeschoolers in this area were in for fundmental christian reasons and one other mom (mostly, well, all moms by the way) was a traveling family often living in other countries. Any way, home school is not one size.
