Listen now | This week, we’re joined by Ari Rabin-Havt, deputy campaign manager for Bernie 2020. Ari recently released a book, The Fighting Soul: On the Road with Bernie Sanders, that gives an insider’s view of the groundbreaking campaign. The book provides funny, surprising, and moving anecdotes that give the reader unusual insight into the man behind the campaign — a campaign that deliberately steered away from focus on its central figure, encapsulated in its famous slogan, “Not Me, Us.”
I loved that story he shared about Harry Reid leaking info to the press. Harry kept the Senate caucus in check during the tragic Obama years, the same can't be said for Chuck. Although these day, you don't even need to leak that much info, because people like Manchin and Sinema openly show their contempt for the Democratic agenda. And I liked that they recognized in passing that keeping the filibuster because the Republicans may pass bad laws is actually protecting Republicans from the political consequences of their ideology. The true problem with the Senate is how unrepresentative it really is. People say all this crap about "without the Senate the cities will "rule" the poor powerless rural areas" while endorsing the opposite of that, as if rural people are somehow more American and worthy of having their voice heard than everyone else.
I have a lot less discretionary income to use than I did when I was donating to Nina, Bernie, Cory Bush, etc. I would have loved to donate more to Nina.

Ultimately "not me. Us" meant "US, me and my friend Joe Biden" and not "me and you the people".

What do you think Bernie would actually like if he were president ? What would he be able to get done with actual Congress ?
