Karp’s research, and what he presents in the Jacobin piece, and presumably in the upcoming interview, is critically important.

Trump has transformed the Republican Party into a authoritarian populist movement built around the rejection of governance of, by, and for the privileged.

The Democratic Party is the only entity now capable of providing an alternative to our nation’s devolution into autocracy. There is simply no way to do that without significant de-polarization; and there’s no way to depolarize without substantially refocusing public policy on addressing and reversing middle and working class disaffection and resentment.

Democrats must demonize and repudiate Trickle-down Reaganomics and fervently champion Bottom-up and Middle-out economics. We need urgently and authentically to become the party of, by, and for “The People.” Absent that, we are doomed.

Yes, Democrats have lost the working class vote. Every time anyone says anything they don’t like they refer to them dismissively as a Trumper or a conservative.

I personally am not happy with how the transgender ideology has been“

“marketed “ in our country and how little conversation In Congress has been heard around the effects of these drugs that all of a sudden have become the most important issue affecting young people, especially young women. There are so many issues we are not allowed to hear, or even ask about, and I find that troubling.

And our “liberal Democrats “ vote not one of them to allow female athletes to only compete against biologically female athletes.

And if you don’t like it, you’re a conservative or worse yet a Trumper. They don’t allow discussion in their tent. Since when?

I was a Democrat for 50 years and just changed to undecided. I am certainly not a Trumper and I don’t even know what a conservative is anymore more. I’d vote for Mitt Romney if he were running.

Both parties have lost their way. They just piss off a bunch of people and make the rest of us throw darts at a wall.

There are a whole bunch of people in this country who aren’t progressives and they aren’t going to vote for some of the things progressives want, sure we pretty much all want to protect the environment, schools, help get the schools in better shape, but, there’s a bunch of white kids who are poor and need help. You don’t have to be black or brown to be poor or need a helping hand.

The progressives have forgotten about that. How about Americans working together like Obama talked about instead of lining up by color?

I am sure getting tired of that, and it’s hurting all of us.

You’ve got to have your head completely up your ass to think progressives want to help based on skin color. I literally feed the food insecure, and a majority of them are Eastern European. You’ve been sold disinformation, Cathy.

Excuse me, ma'am :) But if you realise so well (and you are right about it) that "neither side is doing shit" (and obviously not planning on it should be added), why do you seem to be still expecting them to? And are so frustrated when they fail to deliver on your (kinda irrational in this case) expectations?
